Stained JeansStained / Tinted / Painted:

Hard work, and Hard Play. By the time a pair of jeans becomes authentically distressed you can pretty much guarantee that they have been through a lot! To replicate the years of abuse denim designers often add a vintage tint to the material, or splatter the finished product with paint. Both techniques can be easily replicated at home with very little effort, and even less expense!

Process:

  • To achieve a vintage tint start by combining 2 gallons of hot water with your instant coffee crystals in a 5-gallon bucket. Note: The more concentrated your solution the darker your tint will be.

  • Submerge your jeans in the liquid and let soak for 24 hours stirring occasionally.

  • When finished, remove your jeans from the solution and machine wash / dry as usual. Your denim should now have a brownish / vintage tint to it.

  • Create a splattered effect by using a paintbrush to drip paint/dye across your denim. Make sure you do this over a tarp or other covered surface as this process may get messy. Allow the paint/dye to fully dry before wearing. Machine wash and dry as usual before wearing.
