Oscar De La Renta (born Oscar Aristides Renta Fiallo) was born in the Dominican Republic in 1932. In the 1950's Oscar moved to Spain where he studied painting at the Acade of San Fernando in Madrid. It was in Spain that he first developed a love for the fashion world, and went to work for the renowned couturier, Cristóbal Balenciaga.
